World Cup ignites business aviation

South Africa

Today the 2010 FIFA World Cup has kicked off in South Africa.  This part of the world has become a popular holiday destination for Europeans due to the relatively minor time differences involved.  The Business Aviation industry is hoping that this combined with the World's biggest sporting tournament will increase demand for the next month at least.

Different operators and manufacturers have being putting in place plans to assist their customers and new potential passengers.  The tournament can bring, not just an opportunity to improve the slow recovery that the sector is feeling, but to give it sustainable growth.

Gulfstream and Embraer have both selected companies to assist them in providing 24/7 support within South Africa.

Also, the Hawker Beechcraft Corporation will deploy one of its Quick Response Teams to support aircraft owners and operators during the event.

The Quick Response Teams were launched earlier this year.  They are comprised of trained technicians positioned at area airports to provide immediate support to customers as they travel to and from large domestic and international events.

The tournament will be played at venues all over the country resulting in the opportunity for internal chartered business jet travel after flying to the region on legacy carriers.

The tournament ends on the 11th July and by then the impact it has had on the sector may be clearer.
