Ryanair facing pressure over airport charges

Ireland

Ryanair have been accused of 'acting like pirates' by French politician, Senator Michel Boutant, due to their increasing charges for some of the airports they operate from.  The charge is levied at the airport authority to ensure they maintain the airline's business.  This competition, in some regions, between neighboring airports has led to increasing charges.

There have been calls for airports to bouycot Ryanair in an attempt to combat their 'financial blackmail'.  However, it is unlikely all airports would want to risk losing the business brought by a carrier of this size.

The airline responded to the claims by saying that they are 'always seeking to negotiate further discounts' at all of the airports they operate from.
