PRIVATE AVIATION MARKET RECOVERY IS NEAR

United Kingdom

Online private jet booking network PrivateFly.com has released combined data, which indicate a positive recovery on the private jet charter segment.

Whilst private aviation in Europe was growing at 12 per cent year-on-year in 2006-2007, this was put into halt by the economic recession of the following years. However, European air traffic control figures showed at 6.35 per cent growth in private aviation for July 2010, as compared to July 2009.

The travel industry saw a clear shift to short-term planning on booking lead times during the downturn. However, the latest data of PrivateFly shows an average booking lead time of 12.4 days between February-July 2010.

The company also reported a 200 per cent increase in online bookings over the first half of 2010.
