Pratt & Whitney Teams with National Formosa University

National Formosa University (NFU) and Pratt & Whitney signed a three-year Memorandum of Understanding that allows NFU students to participate in a curriculum for commercial engine maintenance as well as other professional training at Pratt & Whitney’s customer training center (CTC) in China. During the six-week course NFU students will receive the same instructional and practical training as aircraft maintenance engineers.

Pratt & Whitney’s CTC in Beijing is a joint-venture company with partner China Aviation Supply Holding Company. Opened in 2002 and serving more than 1,000 students annually, the training center offers commercial aerospace courses and hands-on training opportunities for aviation professionals in the Asia-Pacific region.

Pratt & Whitney and the university initiated an industrial cooperation program in 1996. Pratt & Whitney also assisted in establishing NFU’s Department of Aviation Engineering Technology and donated a JT9D engine to the university. In 1998, all students of the first class graduated and received job offers from China Airlines and EVA, which led the Ministry of Industry, Republic of China to give Pratt & Whitney an award for the accomplishment.
