London Oxford Airport sees growth in business aviation traffic
London Oxford Airport, unlike many other airports, saw a growth in jet traffic through the airfield in the period form April 2009 to March 2010. Business Jet movements were up 12% while year-on-year non-resident aircraft movements grew 31.6%.
The average number of business jets operating at the airport currently stands at 20 daily, which equates to approximately 6000 movements annually. The Airport has also announced that the first quarter of 2010 brought 25% greater business jet activity than the same period a year before. This is despite the poor weather suffered during January and February.
The airport, located in Kidlington to the North of Oxford, stayed open throughout the sustained ice and snow that hit the UK and caused closures at several other airports.
Jet Fuel sales at the airport have also grown 47% over the last year. This suggests that the business aircraft sector of the UK industry is beginning to bounce back from a difficult 18 months as a result of the country struggling in recession.
