Cabin crew at Air France stop 4-day strike

France

Air France cabin crew have called off a proposed four day strike from 28th to 31st March.  The walkout was reportedly planed as 'solidarity' action to support the British Airways cabin crew who are carrying out a second strike over the same period.

The Union representing the crew members announced the strike, due to coincide with the launch of the airline's summer schedule, to deomnstrate against proposed changes to working conditions.  One of the major points of contention was the plan to remove one flight attendant from all Airbus A319 operated flights.  This plan has now been postponed by the airline till next year at the earliest.

These cost cutting measures were part of a plan by the French carrier to save €120m a year by the end of 2011.
