BA go back to court

United Kingdom

British Airways, already stuggling under the threat of cabin crew strikes, are due back in court over a dispute about Pilot's holiday pay.  The pilots' union BALPA is due to argue the airlines attempted policy change in the Supreme Court.

The dispute centres on the method of calculation, with the airline using only basic pay and the union claiming that basic pay plus allowance, avergaed over the previous 12 weeks, should be the determining value.  BALPA claim this method is required to bring the practice in line with the Working Time Regulations.

The dispute is worth approiximately £600 per pilot.  British Airway are not the only airline facing this action as BALPA  currently has disputes lodged against BMI, Cityflyer and Virgin.
