Flight Attendant Goes Mad - What have you done?
I have complete sympathy with the poor flight attendant who went mad and jumped off the plane in the USA today. We all have had passengers who make us go mad and he stood up to them and said his piece.
I think he may be in trouble when all the dust settles but to me, he is a hero!
Has anyone else done mad things to the passengers? The worst I have done is 'crop spraying'

Most of us will probably never pull a Steven Slater: curse out a customer, grab a drink and leave our place of employment in a blaze of glory. But let’s face it, we’ve all had the urge.Slater, a flight attendant on JetBlue, instantly became a folk hero in many people’s eyes Monday after he grabbed a microphone and ranted at a passenger who had refused to apologize for hitting Slater with some luggage. Slater then grabbed a beer from the galley and fled the plane via the emergency exit chute. “How many of us can honestly say we haven’t wanted to do the same thing? Steve is a working class hero!” one reader, Aaron Steele, commented on msnbc.com.“Maybe not the best way to quit your job but hey, sometimes enough is enough,” said another, usa1967.Workplace experts say that while most of us probably don’t have the chutzpah to do what Slater did, many have felt enough workplace stress to at least fantasize about telling everyone to take this job and shove it.
I think this guy is hero.
I think this guy is hero. His employer, Jet Blue has been very quiet making nothing of this incident. There is a massive amount of support for him. I think it is time we stood up for ourselves and said NO to passenger rudeness.
He should not be fired he should be promoted!
Trolley Boy, you are totally
Trolley Boy, you are totally wrong. How dare an aviation professional just decide to leave his station. What the hell would happen if a pilot decided to do this?
I hope he gets sacked and locked up, he put peoples lives in danger with his actions. What would have happened if there was a ramp guy standing below the door when he opened it? If someone was killed, this guy would be a pariah not some hero.
The whole world is going mad!!!!
Following the Slater incident
Following the Slater incident and the rapidly diminishing support for the 'Shove Your Job' flight attendant there has been much internet chatter abut the role of cabin crew.
I came across this bizarre pole that suggested came to the conclusion that cabin crew are OK.

From the article:
"Among respondents who travel at least occasionally by air, 29 percent rated "the behavior of most flight attendants" as "excellent," and another 59 percent rated it as "good." Eleven percent gave a rating of "only fair" and 1 percent a rating of "poor" to the way most flight attendants behave."
Well, that has cleared that up then! Most cabin crew are doing their job well! It must be a slow news week!
