Aviation English Examiners

This is a good place to ask you questions about the ICAO English Examiners jobs.

To get the ball rolling:

Where is the school?

It's in Germany and no, you don't need to speak German. Everyone speaks English.

How much work will there be?

About 25 days a year but you will be able to operate as a freelance examiner.

Will there be training provided?

Yes and it will be paid for by the school.  You will have the choice to pay for it yourself and have a higher level of pay.

Anymore questions........

Hi Richard
- Is the work in blocks of several days at a time, or on single days? Who pays for the travelling and accommodation? Where in Germany is it?

Hi, As far as I know it will

Hi,

As far as I know it will be in blocks of a few days. Travel and accommodation - this is still not confirmed yet, I would assume that you have to get yourself there and find some accommodation. There maybe some negotiation on this point.

The school is in West of Germany in the Dortmund/Essen area and is an established and good quality organisation.

They are looking for about 20 examiners in total and the first training course starts in early March.

One of the best thing about this job is the ability to work in a freelance capacity, a good opportunity for people with 'a little time on their hands'.

How long is the training

How long is the training course in March?

The training course will be 2

The training course will be 2 days and you will receive full accreditation allowing you to work as an ICAO English examiner.

The first course will be on the 6th and 7th March.

Good morning Bill,

I have been in touch with the people setting up this operation. They have had a few minor setbacks but these have now been resolved. There is an initial group of 4 who have been selected and they will be contacted shortly. This is just the initial tranche and there will be more people required over the next few months.

So, if you have heard nothing....you may well hear something soon.

Hi Richard,

Applied about a month ago - nothing heard. Have the employers resolved the 'difficulties' yet and, if so, have they filled all required positions?

Cheers, Albatross.

Jackie, The examiners

Jackie,

The examiners position is primarily aimed at pilots who hold an ICAO language level 5+. That said, I know they contacted a non pilot in the initial selection who is working as cabin crew but was a TEFL instructor.

As things stand, the hiring process has stalled. There has been a change of personnel recruiting for these positions and some reorganisation within the company. I will try to find out some more information today.

Thanks Richard. Yes, please

Thanks Richard. Yes, please let me know if you get any more information.

I have been in contact with them but I have yet to have a reply. They were moving forward very quickly but then the whole operation seemed to stall. Yup, that's the way it goes.  It was looking so good for a while but then a change of management and everything changes.  We are out look for all types of flying work and other aviation based ground activities.
